Frequently Asked Questions
"Send them an email and they'll answer anything not listed here."
1. I carry everything I need in a backpack. Why do I need your Duckbill solution?
A backpack may be able to hold all the items that you need (or think you need) but it is very restricting and inconvenient. First of all, all the weight you're carrying is carried in one location. Ergonomically that's bad. The Duckbill platform allows the weight you carry to be evenly distributed around the entire circumference of your body. And because of our patented MaxCon docking technology, the weight is "suspended" on and around the utility belt providing a more comfortable and ergonomic result. Secondly, items in a backpack tend to accumulate at the bottom and this makes it difficult to obtain necessary gear quickly, quietly or conveniently. In addition, some items can be damaged (camera, video or sound equipment) if allowed to knock around at the bottom of a backpack. The Duckbill solution allows you to get the most important and often used gear out of the backpack and at you fingertips.
2. Do I have to buy the belt (with or without suspenders) in order for your modules to work properly?
Our modules, with our MaxCon clamshell design, will wrap around just about any belt, but if that belt does not have the receiving fabric (hooks) to a accept the loops of the VelcroŽ on our dock, then part of the ergonomic benefit of our system is lost. It is because our modules do not move or migrate on a belt that a stable and stationary platform is achieved. If you allow module movement, you allow for the inconvenience of constantly readjusting modules and having your body constantly make muscular adjustments throughout the time you're wearing your gear. This incremental muscular/skeletal movement is one of the major causes of back, neck, shoulder pain and fatigue. Our suspenders also have fabric to accept our modules enabling you to utilize their vertical space along with the horizontal space of our belt.
3. How many modules does the average outdoor adventurer use?
All outdoor enthusiasts carry a different variety of items. Any combination of between 3 and 8 modules should accommodate the needs of most adventurers.
4. Can I buy one or two modules now and more later?
One of the nice features of the Duckbill system is that you can "build" it the way you like it. You can purchase one or two items now, and as your needs increase or change you can add to the system. With the interchangeable nature of our MaxCon docking technology, changing, or repositioning modules is easy. Some customers like to have seasonal modules for different times of the year, different activities or different gear.
5. Do you offer a different camo pattern than just Classic Woodland?
We are currently working on a partnership with Mossy Oak that will enable us to offer the most popular and current camo available on the market. Check back to the website for updates, or join the Buyers Club and receive the latest information as it's happening.
6. I have a big spotting scope. Can your SPOC system handle it?
Our Single Platform Optics Carrier (SPOC) system has been lab and field tested (and customer approved) using the largest scopes that are currently on the market. The high-impact locking buckle along with the dock and diagonal strap has handled any weight we've put on it.
7. How long until I receive my order?
Virtually all of our orders are custom made and custom filled. Depending on the size of the order and the workload at the plant, it may take 4-6 weeks for delivery.
8. I have an item that won't fit in one of your modules. What can I do about that?
We have tried to accommodate the needs for the size of gear most often used. There may, however, come a time that one of your items won't fit in any of our modules. Don't fret. We're constantly researching and developing new products. Please contact us with any specific need you may have. Who knows, we may already be developing it, or, you may start the process of developing a new product for us and you.
9. Can I purchase any Duckbill products in a store?
Some of our items are offered in a very limited number of on-line and retail outlets around the country. By far and away, the best place to purchase Duckbill products is right here at: DuckbillOutdoors.com
10. Your prices seem expensive. Why is that?
On the surface our prices may seem high, however, it is our uncompromising list of principles that dictates our prices. Those principles include: task-specific gear with lots of options, inspired design for ergonomic integrity and maximum comfort, distinctive craftsmanship, use of only the highest quality materials, and a level of respect in customer service that is unequaled in the industry. We knew that creating gear like no other, involving so many handcrafted processes and quality checks, that cutting corners just to cut costs was not an option. So rather than compromise on our principles, we decided early on to embrace the concept of designing and building only the finest gear, and equipping it with a Limited Lifetime Guarantee of performance and quality that's tailored to the way you use it.
11. If I'm not happy with my purchase, can I return it?
If for any reason you are not pleased with your product(s) we will promptly and thoroughly meet your needs and make sure you are happy with your final purchase.
We offer a limited lifetime guarantee on all of our products. If damages are incurred during shipping, Duckbill will, at its sole discretion, repair, replace or offer a full refund for the purchased product (shipping charges excluded). This warranty applies to all products which are not A): consumable products, B): subjected to abnormal use, or C): subjected to normal wear and tear. Products considered consumable include, but are not limited to, suspender ends. Usage considered abnormal includes neglect, misuse, and lack of maintenance.
